Ministries
The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) group embraces all of the women at St. John’s. If you are a woman and you attend our services you are automatically a member of the ECW. The national ECW group states that the ECW is a social and service organization. Here at St. John’s we like to describe our group as being both fun-raisers and fundraisers. Please refer to our calendar to see the variety of events we host throughout the year. The ECW meets regularly after coffee hour at 11:30 AM on the first Sunday of each month. Outreach at St. John’s, GibbsboroSaint John-in-the-Wilderness maintains various Outreach ministries in our community. Our main ministry continues to be providing paper products and other household necessities for families in need on a monthly basis. We are now seeing twenty to thirty households per month who need everything from baby diapers to laundry detergent – none of which may be purchased with food stamps. We supply these families from the congregation’s donations; the distribution of these items is the third Saturday of each month. The Christian Cupboard has continued to feed families at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter by providing them with food for a week, as well as a turkey or ham for the season. Each year at Christmas we look to collect hats, gloves, and mittens for children at the Group Homes of Camden County. We are thankful for the lay volunteers and our deacon who coordinate these efforts of outreach. |
